Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah

  Tasnimul Hasan:

"Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah (181-1915)"

When the British established their colony in Bengal, they did not leave any conspiracy against the Muslim Bengalis. The way they developed their own Britain by snatching the wealth of the Muslim Bengalis did not leave out the snatching of their history. Inspired by the biblical spirit, these Englishmen carried out their economic and intellectual Cold Crusade in Bengal, in which they wanted the Muslim Bengalis to be crushed with Enfield rifles mixed with pork fat, so that they could no longer stand with their heads held high. Like. They wanted to economically paralyze the Bengal of the golden sultanate that had existed for thousands of years, in which a sound merchant of Bengal could buy the whole of Europe with the money he earned.

But Muslim Bengal has nurtured its pragmatic children in its womb even in its worst times. One such pragmatic child of Muslim Bengal was Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah. Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah was born on 6 June 181. Before talking about Nawab Salimullah, I would like to give the readers some indescribable description of the Muslim society of that time. Soon after the Battle of Palais, they hatched three conspiracies against the Muslims of Bengal in Muslim Bengal.

1] To create a rift in the Alem community and to establish the Qadiani community, to divide the Madrasa education system by conspiracy.

2] Fooling the Muslim Bengalis. So that they cannot stand tall as an educated nation. At the same time to strengthen a class that is involved in 100% ideological conflict with Muslim Bengalis. This class claimed to be the elite Hindu class or the elite Hindu community. Making education scarce for Muslim women and making Western arrogance readily available.

3] Economically crippling Muslims. Their trade was taken away and handed over to the Elite Hindu Society. Zamindari handed over to Elite Hindu Society. And what did this elite class, which grew up eating haram lokma with the dirty hands of the English, do to the Muslims of the subcontinent? You have to read the whole post carefully to know that. To destroy the art of the Muslim Bengalis, this English and elite Hindu society forced them to cultivate indigo, and as a result of excessive taxes, the world-famous industries of Muslim Bengal seemed to disappear. For example, let's talk about muslin cloth.

We can see the condition of Muslim Bengalis and other Muslims in the subcontinent during the time of Nawab Sir Salimullah. The English introduced English education to deprive Muslims of the administrative sphere. English did not facilitate the learning of English in Muslim Bengali society even then. Because they discriminated against Muslim Bengalis in all respects, especially the Muslims of East Bengal. English is one of the discriminators.

Moreover, it is worth mentioning that the middle and poor Hindu community of East Bengal was discriminated against by the elite Hindu class of Kolkata. Because the elite class of Kolkata strictly followed the caste system. That is why they used to discriminate against the Hindus of East Bengal by calling them humble Shudras. Keeping this anger in mind, they maintained a collaborative relationship with the Muslims. As we see in the case of Haji Shariatullah and Titumir.

"A single shelf of a good European library was worth the whole native literature of India and Arabia" [1]. So they made English the state language of the subcontinent. As a result, English became the language of administration. This is how the English left the Muslims behind in education. On the other hand, the English put the elite Hindu society ahead in education. As a result, the Muslim Bengalis also lagged behind the elite Hindu class in the field of employment.

The situation of Muslims was very bad, I wanted to talk a little about Punjab. The elite warrior class Sikh community was formed by the British in Punjab like the elite Hindu class of this Muslim Bengal. They targeted the homes of Muslims in Punjab. Seeing this, the Hindu community in Punjab would write the word "Hindubabu" outside their homes, and the Sikhs would not attack there. The English are propaganda among the Sikhs

It was said that the ancestors of the Muslims used to kill the Sikhs and the Sikhs would get agitated.

Tears well up in the eyes of the people of Kerala in the subcontinent when it comes to describing how the elite Brahmin community there treated the lower caste Hindus. In Kerala, lower-caste Hindu women had to pay taxes to cover their breasts or breasts. This tax system was imposed on the lower caste Hindu women by the zamindars of the upper caste Hindu community, I wonder if they did anything to the Muslims of Kerala. If the breast tax was not paid, the breasts of lower-caste Hindu women would be cut off. Once a woman did this and she died. When she was burned at the stake, her husband jumped into the fire and committed suicide.

Even when the English did not introduce English-based education in Muslim Bengal, Muslims had Islamic higher education to teach Muslims about jurisprudence, astronomy, chemistry, etc.

Institution. But after the arrival of the English, the financial support of this education system stopped. Only primary-level mastabas, and madrasas [2] survive.

Historian Abbas Ali Khan says that if we discuss the past history of the Muslims of the subcontinent, it is known that the education of a person started from the age of four years, four months, and four days. He further mentioned in his book 'History of the Muslims of Bengal' that the kings of the subcontinent and especially the sultans of Bengal used various methods to educate their people. Sultan Muhammad bin Bakhtiyar Khilji of Bengal was a very inquisitive man in education. He also introduced the Islamic school system and Islamic college system in Bengal like Mamluk Sultan Qutbuddin Aibek. He established many dargahs. Why all this? To educate the Bengalis. Ghiyasuddin I established colleges and inns at Lakhnauti in Bengal. But the English came and set everything on fire.

The economic condition of the Muslim Bengalis was like a leaking bucket, especially for the Muslims of East Bengal. When the English ruined the jobs and trade of the Muslims, most of them became involved in agriculture. In other words, we became ordinary farmers from the Amir of Bengal. A census of 1901 shows that most of the agriculturists in Bengal are Muslims. It also shows that Muslim Bengalis only worked in agriculture, But they did not own the land. Out of every ten thousand Muslims, 6316 were farmers and 173 were landowners. On the other hand, the ratio of Hindus was 5555 and 216 [4]. In other words, despite being a minority, there were more Hindus than Muslim zamindars. This is because the British did not give concessions to the Muslim Bengalis even in the zamindari sector. In the areas of Bengal where Muslims were the majority, most of the Muslims were farmers but the Hindus were landlords. In Bogra district, for example, the Muslim population was over 70 percent, but there were only five Muslim zamindars in the whole district. [5] If we talk about the Rajshahi district, the number of Muslims here in 1911 was 6% of the total population and Hindus were 21%. In this place also the upper-class Brahmin society was 5 percent and the number of Muslim zamindars was only significant 3 [8]. In the year, Hindus were 7 percent of the total population and 21 percent. In this place also the upper-class Brahmin society was 5 percent and the number of Muslim zamindars was only significant 3 [8]. In the year, Hindus were 7 percent of the total population and 21 percent. In this place also the upper-class Brahmin society was 5 percent and the number of Muslim zamindars was only significant 3 [8].

The elite Hindu community made their position in Muslim Bengal mainly by allying with the British. So the position of the Muslim Bengalis was very critical. Wherever the European imperialists have colonized, they have carried out genocide, the Holocaust. But they could not get along with the Muslims of Bengal.

Such was the condition of the Muslim Bengalis. Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah was born in this dark time. His father's name was Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah and his grandfather's name was Nawab Khwaja Abdul Gani. Since the English came then there was no system to learn Islamic science. So Nawab Salimullah continued to study Islamic science at home with an Islamic scholar. Along with learning the Arabic-Persian language. After graduation, he became a deputy magistrate, a matter that was very challenging for Muslims at the time because Badre Alam Khana says in the third chapter of his book History of Bengal, Politics of Bengal: But the fate of the Muslims depended on the work of clerks, waiters, peons, drivers, coaches and the army "[6]. Islam and Muslim

Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay's father was also a deputy collector. So it was challenging for Sir Salimullah to become a Deputy Magistrate. But he resigned from the job. The tiger can't call the fox sir. He joined active politics.

The situation I described in this article, The Dan Muslim Bengalis, was actually worse than that. This Harsh situation made Nawab Salimullah very ill, so he made a firm promise. The Muslim Bengalis of East Bengal must be educated, and another promise was made. What was the promise of this pragmatic child of Muslim Bengal? You will get it in the next episode InshaAllah stay with me till then.
