The Zamzam

  Tasnimul Hasan:

The paradise fountain is as wonderful as "Zamzam".

Zamzam. A wonderful sign of God's infinite might. One of the fountains of Paradise. The harvest of the prayer of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). The best and the best water in the world.

Or thousands of years, millions of people have been quenching their thirst. They are drinking and carrying themselves to the far corners of the earth. As a result, Muslims all over the world are being blessed with the blessings and welfare of this water even without going to Makkah. There is no end to its features and virtues.

This well was created about five thousand years ago. The history of this 30-meter-deep well located only 20 meters away from the Holy Kaaba is not unknown to many. Everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, is getting stunned by as much as they know about curiosity.

By the command of Allah, Hazrat Ibrahim (RA) left his son Ishmael (AS) and his wife Hajra (RA) in uninhabited Makkah. When Ibrahim (AS) started to leave from there, Hajra (AS) kept saying to him- Are you leaving us alone in such a desolate desert ?! But he was not responding.

Finally, Hajra (a) said, did Allah tell you to leave us here? He replied, Yes. Hajara (a) then (said in a faithful voice,) Allah will not destroy us.

Dhu-dhu desert all around. Desolate wilderness. No people. Just sand waves up to the last limit of vision. Yet he has accepted everything with satisfaction. Surrendered before the command of Allah.

Ibrahim (AS) left. He complained about his wife and son to God;

O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to live in a barren valley near your holy house! ... (Surah Ibrahim 38)

When the little food and drink are left over, the infant Ismail A. He was fidgeting with thirst. Mother Hajera kept running desperately in search of water.

There is no trace of water. There is no way. Now God's mercy is the only hope. Just then the mercy of Allah came down in the form of Yam Yam. A miraculous well is created by the blowing of the wings of the angel sent by Allah. A fountain of fresh water began to come out. From then on, the ever-flowing Zamzam started.

🌿 The virtue of Zamzam water:

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (RA) narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that

Zamzam is the best water on earth. It has the properties of food and freedom from disease. (Almuzamul Kabir-1118; Mazmauz Yawaed-5812)

In another hadith, it has been narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

The purpose for which Zamzam is drunk is fulfilled. If you drink it for healing, God will heal you. (Mustadrake Hakem - 1839)

Throughout the ages, innumerable servants of God have spent day after day just drinking Zamzam. Because it contains food energy.

Ibn al-Qayyim rah. Said,

I have been freed from many diseases by using Zamzam for healing. (Yadul Maad 4/393)

Whoever drinks the water of Zamzam, Allah fulfills his intention.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,

'The purpose for which you drink the water of Zamzam will be fulfilled. (Ibn Majah: 3072)

That is why the Companions, the Tabin, the noble ulama, and the God-fearing believers used to have different intentions while drinking Zamzam, which has been fulfilled in the pages of history. Hazrat Omar Ra. He used to drink Zamzam water so as not to get thirsty on the Day of Judgment.

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim rah.

"I've also seen people who have spent half a month or more just drinking Zamzam," he said. Never felt hungry. He used to circumambulate with others very naturally. He told me that he had spent forty days just drinking Zamzam once. (Yadul Maad 4/393)

When Hazrat Abu Jarr Ghiffari (RA) converted to Islam and came to Makkah, he spent only 30 days drinking Zamzam water.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to sprinkle Zamzam water on the sick and let them drink it.

There are innumerable cases of drinking Zamzam for healing from Salaf Salehin. When they got sick, they used to drink Zamzam as a treatment and get well.

Imam Ahmad ibn Hamble's son said of his father,

"I saw my father drinking Zamzam to get rid of the disease." He also used to massage his hands and face with water. (Siyaru Alamin Nubala 11/212)

Allama Jalaluddin Suyuti said, Hafiz Ibn Hazar Askalani said. Narrated, he said,

I drank the water of Zamzam in memory of Hafiz Shamsuddin Jahabi Rah. In order to reach this level. Suyuti said that Ibn Hazar had reached that level; Rather, his memory became sharper. (Tabaqatul Huffaz: 1/522).

🌿 Etiquette of drinking Zamzam water:

The jurists have mentioned some etiquettes of drinking Zamzam water. These should be taken care of. For example,

  • Drinking facing the Qibla.
  • Drinking in three breaths.
  •  Reciting Bismillah every time.
  • Saying Alhamdulillah after each breath.
  • Drinking with the right hand.

Praying for the welfare of the world and the Hereafter while drinking. Especially notable for pilgrims). Zamzam teaches us to give up and give up. By sacrificing all the pleasures and happiness of the world and one's own desires and needs in obedience to the commandments of Allah, he awakens in the consciousness of complete surrender to Allah. May Allah give us the Abrahamic consciousness.

| Amen |
